Layne Christensen Co. (Mission Woods, KS) and Membrana-Charlotte, a division of membrane maker Celgard (Charlotte, NC), have formed a partnership to provide volatile organic compound (VOC) and radon removal systems and services for municipal water companies in the United States. The two companies will deploy Membrana’s Liqui-Cel membrane contactors through Layne Christensen’s distribution channels in the municipal market. The companies said that they have been working together since 2010 to evaluate the use of the Liqui-Cel product for VOC and radon removal. According to Membrana, the products are rapidly replacing older de-aeration technologies in such industrial applications as digital printing, biotechnology, semiconductor production, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and others.
