To support the effort to roll out its advanced bioenergy technology, INEOS Bio (Rolle, Switzerland) has selected AMEC plc (London, U.K.) to provide engineering services on behalf of the technology licensees on a global basis. Under the contract, AMEC will ensure that the engineering designs for facilities using INEOS’s waste-to-bioenergy technology are optimized and customized for each location. AMEC said that it was selected following an extensive process of evaluating several global engineering firms. The two companies are currently working together on the first commercial-scale facility to deploy the technology—the Indian River BioEnergy Center in Vero Beach, Florida, which will produce eight million gallons of advanced cellulosic ethanol per year and generate six megawatts of renewable power.
